Before that, I was in private practice in internal medicine for 8 years. 3 of those years, I was on the medical review board at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. Before private practice, I worked at Kaiser Permanente in Landover, MD. The last two years there, I was department chair of internal medicine. Before medical school, I had extensive experience in research, both in basic science and medical research, working on a team studying cystic fibrosis.
